Testing! Testing!

I recently went shopping with a friend, just to test my dedication to this self imposed shopping ban. I have found that my wardrobe is seriously lacking shoes, so I made it a point to stop in for some shoes.
I love how red shoes add the perfect amount of pop to an outfit so I tried on a pair.

These are the Olsenboye union pumps for 39.99. They are incredibly, surprisingly comfortable. Olsenboye is a brand by...wait for it.....the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley available at JcPenney. All in all I loved these, put them on hold, but stuck to my shopping ban guns. As a side note I don't think I want shiny red shoes, I think I prefer genuine leather (I know the vegetarian police are all over that one) and/or not shiny non-leather red shoes. Don't get me wrong, I love me some shine, but maybe not in red.

I also tried on a coat from the limited. Now I need another coat like I need a whole in my head. However I love coats. I love them so much. I mean so, so , so, so, so much. So I decided to try this trench on. It is an unknown jacket for 148.00

I love it for so many reasons. Luckily it is exactly like a coat I already have, except for the tan trimmings. So it was a fairly easy pass. Plus I'm not the type to spend 148.00 on a coat from the limited. Sorry limited! I just like Anthropologie and J. Crew a little more!

  1. Just stumbled upon your blog...

The red shoes are so pretty, though! And I think us Minnesota girls can never have enough coats. We practically live in them for 9 months! Good job on your shopping ban! :)

  2. I love the shoes! I definitely think that a shiny pair of red shoes would add a lot of "pop" to quite a few outfits, but I also know what you mean about leather. $39.99 is not a bad price though (especially if they are comfy), plus I bet you could find a coupon code or something online (definitely go through ebates too). I'll shut up now. I should not be enabling you if you are on a shopping ban! Good job for sticking with it!

  3. I love that trench on you! The good thing about The Limited is that you can usually find a coupon so there's a chance to find buy the trench for less! I think patent leather red pumps would be a lot of fun. imagine them peeking out from a pair of trousers.

  4. HurricaneKerrie-It must be a Minnesota thing! Thanks for the congrats cause I have to say it was hard. I had to convince myself that it wasn't worth it, if you can't tell I was still trying to convince myself in the post!

Kristen-I like them too! Your making it even harder to pass up though, I mean they are adorable and the shininess makes them pretty much Minnesota snow and salt proof(i think, none of my shiny shoes have ever succumbed to the winters)and a coupon to boot! I hope they are still there in April! I don't know if you can tell but I was trying to convince myself I didn't want them. It's not really working out...

Fallonroxann-I'm going to look for a coupon. I love that coat! I would have purchased it if I wasn't on the ban, even for 148-lets be honest. Most of my stuff from the limited has stood the test of time, so I know they have quality stuff. The shoes are pretty much a must have, I mean 39.99 plus comfy-sold. Hopefully they will still be there in April!

  5. Love red shoes...such a strong color but at the same time, I think that they are really versatile and def add a POP of unexpected color to any outfit :) You have much more will-power than I...I need to avoid the mall like the plaque if I have any hope of sticking to my budget :)

  7. those shoes are killa! but I agree with you on the shine factor. I would hold out for a pair that you really love. But I do like the color and it would go so well with your red belt that I see you sport in your outfits :) So it's a win-win either way :) Sorry, like Kristin, I should probably shut up.
hee-hee, I like the Limited but I heart Anthro that much more too! eek, I'm so stoked that you read Something Borrowed too and I think you're my only blog reader who has! I loved that book and Something Blue. Oh yes, we are lit twin soul sistas :) Holla!

  8. Cat- I agree, red shoes add that pop! I hope my will-power lasts, I just got a part-time job at the mall, perhaps not the best thing for a shopaholic like me!
